I’m an entrepreneur from Romania, Eastern Europe.

I’ve worked as a programmer for a few international companies here in Romania. I’ve done software development and software architectures; I’m interested in Personal Development, Motivation, Internet Startups, Advertising, People Management, Project Management, Marketing and Branding.
I was born in 4th of July, 1980, so I’ve lived my first 10 years during communism. I feel that my generation is a really priviledged one, because we’ve lived to experience two different worlds: the one during the 80s in Eastern Europe, when we grew up playing real games, with no computers or any other gadgets; and the one that started during the 90s and which is evolving right now. This new one is a really great one and it offers the same opportunities to everyone, no matter where you physically are. Thanks to the Internet, we all get the same chances to get out and do what we want.

I’ve started several things here in Romania: a free SMS service which uses advertising on mobile phones in order to pay for the messages, called Telf - using Clickatell as a SMS service provider; several other services (i.e. resource management) directed to small companies; a blog farm which is associated with the morning coffee BlogPub; a web portal dedicated to musicians and sound engineers, Pro-Audio. I’ve also created a web-site dedicated to Rails developers, and written exclusively in Romanian: RoRails.ro - here I write articles for the ones wanting to learn Ruby on Rails from scratch, but also more advanced articles dedicated to the most experienced developers; most of my projects are open-source so you can check them out at github.com/sergiutruta.

I’ve started SergiuTruta.com because I see every day people who lack motivation. They accept being dragged by the life’s waves whithout trying to fight back, instead of trying to be the source of the life’s waves. A lot of people need guidance in order to find motivation, in order to start doing something, in order to start acting. Because of this and because I’m very interested in these topics, I’ve started this personal blog. I’m also interested in startups and mostly in internet startups. So I’m also posting startup ideas. These don’t have to be secret and kept only for me so I’ll start sharing them with you.
